The question is what is race? Race is a social construct developed in the 16th century as a justification to enslave human beings in an effort to stimulate a global economy. With 200 Years of enslavement and 100 years of fighting for civil rights blacks in the U.S have fallen into a revolving door of subjugation, discrimination, and poverty. Many African Americans and other minorities have pulled themselves out of the revolving door, although even in the 21st century we still encounter the scars of slavery and racial discrimination.
Racial discrimination is not theoretical it is something real and can be observed in and out of our political and everyday life. I feel that the key to coming out of this dilemma is not to throw money at it, but to develop our national educational system. Education in our country is the key from the bottom up. It develops more jobs and pulls people out of poverty and educates society of diversity and social equality.

I think, as you try to relieve your guilt, which is yours to bear not African Americans, you forget that race is not a fact. It does not exist. And it is the concept of "racism" that allowed for the brutality and constant psychological dehumanization of people of African descent. You, as the people of European descent are responsible for mutilations, deaths, lynchings, murders, and horrendous acts. You are responsible for the institution of hatred of a people. You are responsible for the continued oppression of people of color based on a concept you continue to hold close to your heart. First, you must let go of the concept of "race", the fact that you still speak of it as a fact means you have not cross the road you need to in order be forgiven. Once you get there, we can talk. Once you realize that we are all descendants of Africa, we can talk. Until then, your words will fall on deaf ears and anger, disgust, and bewilderment will prevail.
