The Early Show on CBS is scheduled to air an interview with director Katrina Browne and family member Tom DeWolf. Tom appears in the film and has written a book, Inheriting the Trade, chronicling his personal transformation during and after the journey.
The interview date is yet to be determined, and will be posted here when it has been announced.
Traces of the Trade will be featured this week at the Newport International Film Festival.
There will be screenings of the film on Wednesday, June 4, at 3:00pm (Opera House 1), on Thursday, June 5, at 8:00pm (Jane Pickens Theater), and on Saturday, June 7, at 1:00pm (Opera House 1).
Last fall Katrina Browne and I participated in a screening of Traces of the Trade at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by a day-long discussion of how the Diocese of Maryland could face its own challenges related to the legacy of slavery. While there I met Beth McNamara who, along with her daughter Alison, owns St. Bede’s Books (conveniently located at the Cathedral, which also serves as the Diocesan Center).
